Privacy Policy for QrFlashcards

Effective: October 7, 2026 · Covers the Android app only. Looking for the website's privacy policy instead?

QrFlashcards is a flashcard app built around QR codes: you create decks, print or share them as scannable codes, and study them on your device. This page explains what the app does and doesn't do with your information.

01

Overview

QrFlashcards does not require an account, does not run its own servers, and does not collect, store, or sell personal information. Your decks, cards, and scanned QR codes live only on your device.

The app does rely on two Google services — AdMob for the free, ad-supported version, and Google Play Billing for the one-time "Remove Ads" purchase. Sections 5 and 6 below describe exactly what those involve.

02

Data we don't collect

We — the developer of QrFlashcards — do not operate any backend, analytics, or crash-reporting service for this app. We never see, receive, or store:

  • Your name, email address, or any account information (there is no sign-up or login)
  • The contents of your flashcard decks or the QR codes you create or scan
  • Camera footage or photos
  • Your location, contacts, or any other device data
03

What's stored on your device

Your decks, cards, and app settings are saved locally on your device using Android's DataStore, and never leave it unless you explicitly share a deck via NFC (see below). Uninstalling the app, or clearing its storage in Android's app settings, permanently deletes this data.

04

Camera & NFC sharing

FeatureWhat it doesWhat leaves your device
CameraScans QR codes using on-device ML Kit barcode recognition so you can add a deck or card by scanning its code.Nothing. Frames are processed on-device and are never stored, uploaded, or transmitted.
NFCLets two nearby devices tap to transfer a deck directly between them.Deck data is sent device-to-device over NFC only. It does not pass through any server we control.
05

Advertising & consent

The free version of QrFlashcards shows ads served by Google AdMob. Before any ad is requested, the app shows Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP) consent form where required by law (for example, under GDPR in the EEA/UK, or applicable US state privacy laws), and ads are only requested once that consent — or a jurisdiction that doesn't require it — allows it.

Depending on your consent choices, AdMob and its partners may collect identifiers such as your advertising ID, approximate location, and app usage data to serve and measure ads. This processing is governed by Google's own policies, linked below. You can review or change your consent at any time from the app's Privacy Options setting.

06

Purchases

The optional "Remove Ads" purchase is a one-time, non-consumable product handled entirely through Google Play Billing. Payment details (card numbers, billing address, etc.) are collected and processed by Google Play — we never receive or store them. We only learn whether the purchase was completed, so the app can stop requesting ads.

07

App permissions

PermissionWhy it's requested
InternetRequired by AdMob to serve ads, by Google Play Billing to process purchases, and to verify qrflashcards.com deck links.
CameraLets you scan a QR code to open or add a deck. Optional — the app works without a camera.
NFCLets you share a deck by tapping two devices together. Optional — the app works without NFC.
08

Children's privacy

QrFlashcards is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Because we don't collect personal information from anyone, this applies equally to users of all ages.

09

Data retention & deletion

Since your deck and card data stays on your device, you control retention and deletion directly: clear the app's storage or uninstall it at any time from Android's app settings to remove everything. There is no server-side account or backup for us to delete, because none exists.

10

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this same page with a new effective date above. Continued use of the app after a change means you accept the revised policy.
